One of the first off-season decisions by the American Basketball Association (ABA) in April was to revamp their website, and Minotaur Media was absolutely honored to have the opportunity to help with that task. The ABA announced their new website on May 29, 2026 through a Facebook post.
Minotaur Media was approached by the ABA to call their 2026 Championship Weekend in Atlanta, Georgia in mid-April, which featured the Buffalo eXtreme, the Nashville Aces, the Silicon Valley Panthers, and the 2025-26 ABA Champions, the Austin Bats. We also provided a large number of graphics, including the official brackets of the ABA Playoffs throughout the postseason.

Through that opportunity, Minotaur Media was able to express some frustrations with the ABA website and communication in general to an ABA executive. That executive listened closely and then brought us on to help with the redevelopment of the site.
“Don’t gripe if you’re not willing to be a part of the solution,” said Eric Ivie, owner of Minotaur Media. “I griped a lot and desperately wanted to be a part of the solution. I want this league and everyone in it to succeed. We all succeed together or we all fail together. The ABA listened and let me do my thing with their website. What a tremendous opportunity for which I am so thankful!”
Approaching the rebuild from a fan’s point of view, Minotaur Media sought to make the league’s teams better known and more accessible to fans, explain the unique rules of the league in a more extensive fashion, and explain how teams are selected and seeded for the playoffs every year.

The league also accepted our idea of providing companies like Minotaur Media or individuals — writers, photographers, videographers, etc. — the ability to contribute news stories to the league’s website.
“We cover the Blue Division and the Red Division of the ABA Central Region. We know that the Take Your Shot Media Crew is very familiar with the ABA West Region and beyond, recently interviewing ABA CEO Joe Newman. Freedom Fighter Productions does work for the Atlanta Aliens in the ABA South Region,” said Ivie. “There HAS to be more of us like-minded folks out there who want to promote their favorite team, their favorite divisions, their favorite region, or the league and its athletes as a whole.
“Now those folks have that opportunity. Fans absolutely crave information about the league, its teams, and its athletes,” Ivie continued. “Submit your content to the ABA, and if they approve it, your voice will be heard! What other sports league does that?”
Some other features that have been added to the ABA website include a specific home for all information regarding the ABA Playoffs, all of the ABA Champions over the years, and an in-depth look at the league’s unique rules including access to the entire document provided to media each year.
Minotaur Media learned from its own direct experience while covering a game with a misapplication of the ABA rules that everyone from players to team officials to referees to fans needs to be aware of the rules.
“Both teams being on a level playing field is incredibly important to me, so the consistent application of league rules is vital,” said Ivie. “Additionally, fans want to understand what’s going on during a game, whether it’s the 3D Light, a 7-second violation, team fouls being reset every quarter, or why there’s no possibility of triple overtime in the ABA.”
Minotaur Media is so thankful for this second opportunity — beyond the ABA Championship Weekend — to help make the league a success. We hope to remain involved in the upkeep of the league’s website to assist the ABA in putting its best foot forward.
