The Take Your Shot Media Crew has been awarded the broadcast of the 2027 American Basketball Association (ABA) Championship Weekend in Las Vegas, Nevada in mid-April, which could not make us happier!
Co-founders Ricky Rodriguez and George Ochola, along with Andrew Sanchez and crew, will live stream all the action in Las Vegas for ABA Championship Weekend after Minotaur Media, LLC did the same for the 2026 ABA Championship Weekend in Atlanta.
The announcement was made by ABA CEO Joe Newman on a podcast by Take Your Shot Media Crew on May 30, 2026.
Minotaur Media owner Eric Ivie stumbled across Take Your Shot Media Crew during the 2026 ABA Playoffs when he was seeking a live stream for a game between the San Diego Suns and the Vegas Royals.
Located in southern California, Take Your Shot Media Crew made the trip to Las Vegas to cover the game, and Eric was impressed not only by their energy and broadcast quality but by one additional factor that is rare in ABA game broadcasts.
“They know the ABA rules,” said Eric. “They know what the 3D Light is called and why it comes on. I about fell out of my chair in shock when they called a 3D play correctly! It’s a rarity for broadcast crews hired by ABA teams to understand and recognize the rules like that.”
After that game, Eric reached out to Rodriguez, and the two have been conversing regularly ever since.
While Minotaur Media covers two divisions of the ABA Central Region, Take Your Shot Media Crew is all over the ABA West Region — and beyond. Through their Dubl Drbl podcast, they regularly talk with ABA coaches, owners, and players from all across the country.
Just recently, they interviewed Nashville Aces co-owner and head coach Allen Rogers, Jr. from the ABA Central Region Red Division.
They also play a much more significant role with Minotaur Media.
“Ricky was a big supporter of mine when I was in Atlanta,” Eric said. “He knows that what we do isn’t easy, he said as much in a public forum which meant a lot to me, and he’s been kind to share some of his tips and experiences along the way with me. When I get down about something, he’s there to pick me up and encourage me. When I succeed, he’s there to cheer me on. I hope to have the same positive impact on him over time.
“As soon as I heard that 2027 will be in Las Vegas, Take Your Shot Media Crew was my vote to cover it,” continued Eric.
So when the announcement was made about the 2027 ABA Championship Weekend, the Minotaur Media home office went bonkers with excitement.
